Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th the 28th of October, 1967. Her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts, a farmer, was one of the first Roberts to arrive in Atlanta. At an early age, her father began to take an interest in theater. As a student in Emory University he appeared in numerous productions on and off the campus. Following his air force service In 1953, he starred in an air force production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. They got married in 1955. Their first child, Eric Anthony, was born in 1956. Walter as well as his spouse quit the Air Force in, when they enrolled Walter as a student at Tulane University. Walter was a part of the Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio after they moved their family from Atlanta to Georgia's Decatur in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 on the local children's Saturday morning show on television called Bum Bum and His Buddies that they self-funded. In 1964 Betty Lou and Walter founded the Actors and Writers Workshop. The workshop lasted about six years. They had two more children, Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also known by the name Lisa) and Julia Billingsley (1967) (also know as Julie).
