Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28 the 28th of October, 1967. Roberts belongs to the Robertses' fourth generation that reside in the Atlanta area beginning with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. At an early age, her father began to take an interest in theater. When he was a college pupil studying at Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he participated in several performances. While stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi, he was inducted into the air force in 1953. Betty Lou Bredemus was part of the show as well. In 1955, the couple got married and in 1956 their child Eric Anthony was born. Walter was a student at Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana following his departure from the Air Force in the year 1957. Walter became a member of Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio at the time the family relocated from Atlanta to Decatur, Georgia in the year 1960. The year 1964 was when Walter and Betty Lou began production on a local children's Saturday morning TV show known as Bum Bum and His Buddies which they funded by their own. They established an Actors and Writers Workshop in that same year. It was in operation for a period of 6 years. They welcomed in 1965 two more children into their lives: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
