When she was initially inspired through the shadows she observed on the grass of the trees, she worked for months in developing a process that did not depict an object as a two-dimensional picture. This way, the selected subject is transformed into a representation of the subject. This happens especially with living objects or objects that die for example, like fruits or humans. Her ephemeral painterly style is obvious and what remains of Alexa Meade's work is the photographs. Trompe l'oeil is achieved by combining the two techniques of painting and photographing. This creates an unflattened and two-dimensional photograph. Meade sometimes integrates her paintings in the 3D world around them. They can interact in this self-created universe. The line that separates painting and photography can be dissolved.
